DANCE REGISTRATION 

NEW POM AND HIP HOP TRICKS RECREATIONAL CLASSES STARTING 1/8/24!!

 

Iconic Dance Team, founded in 2020, is a competitive All Star Dance Team Program. Dancers compete in 1-2 routines in styles such as Hip Hop and/or Poms. Dancers participate in performances and competitions as a team both regionally and nationally. Competitions focus on synchronization, precision, athleticism and skills. This program is Audition-Only. Our dancers are selected based on age (ages 6-18 years) and skill level. Our team trains two days during the week; 1.5 hours.

 

We not only pride ourselves on a program that offers proper technical training, but one that also teaches many life lessons that can only be learned through a truly positive team and training environment. Our teachers and coaches take the role in your child’s life seriously as we lead by example and practice what we preach. Integrity, Spirit, Teamwork, Sportsmanship are the main focus of our program. We want the very best for every dancer!

ICONIC DANCE TEAM

-All Star Dance Teams ranging from prep to elite level, ages 6-18

-Perform as a team (6 or more dancers)

-Compete in various styles of dance : Hip Hop & Pom

-Perform on various surfaces: marley, stage

-Compete through dance team circuits such as Universal Dance Association and Champion Spirit Group

-Compete at Nationals in Orlando, Florida (Junior/Senior Teams)

-8 month season (Sept-April)

MEET COACH MISTY

Program Director & Dance Team Coach

Coach Misty is known for her contagious energy and the love she has for her dance students. She is passionate about teaching dancers to discover their inner fire and to let their heart and soul pour out onto the dance floor. Misty started the Iconic Dance Team program from the ground up in 2020/2021 as both a coach and program director. Within her first year coaching at Iconic Dance, she helped her team win a Division Championship. All three seasons, she led her teams to Nationals in Orlando, Florida placing in the finals as a Nationally ranked team! Her Senior Teams, earned a PAID BID to Nationals in season two and season three. Coach Misty was recently featured on WGN “DAYTIME CHICAGO” to speak about mental health awareness with athletes and her positive approach to coaching.

 

Misty is a former University of Iowa Dance Team Member and Choreographer.  In her 4 years at Iowa, her team placed in the Finals at UDA College Nationals in Orlando, Florida as well as placing 1st in the region. Misty was awarded the MVP Award and Choreography Award which is a huge honor as a Big Ten Collegiate Athlete. Upon graduation, she’s had the pleasure of judging and choreographing for both nationally and state ranked collegiate and high school dance teams.

For the past 20+ years, Coach Misty has been teaching at numerous dance studios in the Chicagoland area. She has trained intensely in all genres of dance including Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Modern. Misty began her training at the age six with the Lisa Boehm School of Ballet where she performed as a featured dancer in the Nutcracker Suite Ballet.  She continued her dance training with the University of Iowa Dance Department, The Edge Performing Arts & Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles, California as well as Lou Contes, Joel Hall and Tremaine in Chicago. In addition to teaching dance, she’s danced professionally for numerous choreographers. Misty was known for her fierce energy in both jazz and hip hop.

 

In addition to being Iconic’s All Star Dance Team Coach and Program Director, she is an Author and owner of Mistyrockslife LLC. You may know Misty as being a retired school teacher of 17 years in school district U-46. While at home, Misty is the CEO to her three awesome kiddos and wife to Todd.  She loves fitness, Hawkeye Football, vacations and anything related to DANCE!

 

COACH NATALIE

Mini & Youth Dance Team Coach

Coach Natalie Schultz, has been teaching Mini Dance Classes and Mini Dance Teams in the suburban area for the past three years.  We are excited to have her coach our very first Mini Dance Team called “Hot Shots”.  She knows just how to motivate and keep her dance students engaged with her infectious bubbly personality and enthusiasm that kids love! Natalie has trained in many styles of dance for the past 13 years and still dances to this day.  “I have a real passion being on the stage as well in the dance studio. Teaching kids and teens will be an honor to expand their knowledge of dance but to also open their heart to this wonderful art.”

 

COACH JORDAN

Junior Dance Team Coach & Hip Hop Instructor

Jordan Buchanan is a professional dancer, instructor and choreographer. Jordan Buchanan is known for her contagious, positive energy that she exudes at Iconic Dance. Jordan teaches our all star teams in hip hop as well our junior all star dance team coach. Jordan has an extensive studio dance background in classical ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop. She was awarded the prestigious award, “Miss Starbound” and “Celebration 2017 Dancer of the Year”. Jordan is a technically trained dancer and a great asset to our dance team program!

COACH MAGGIE

Junior Dance Team Coach

Coach Maggie has over 28 years of dance experience and 11 years of combined Head Coaching experience at the all-star, high school, and college level. She was a 4 year member (3 year Captain) of her college team in Ripon, WI with a UPA National Championship in Open Jazz in 2011. She had coached at Guerin Prep High School with back to back State series appearances, and has just started her second year as Head Coach at Saint Viator High School. Her coaching background also includes two years as the Head Varsity Cheer Coach at St. Patrick High School (Ill.), six years as Dance Coach and Co-Founder of Stars Premiere Athletics All-Star Team, and under her leadership, the 2018 Robert Morris University-Illinois Dance Team made their first-ever appearance at National Dance Association Nationals—hosted by the Beachside Convention Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. Coach Maggie has a passion for dance and loves working with new coaches, athletes and their teams in an effort to reach their goals. She is excited to be an official staff member and Assistant Coach for the Iconic Allstars Dance Program this year.

 

MISS JAIMEE

Pom Technique & Hip Hop Instructor

Jaimee Jaucian began dancing as a kid in the Macopa Filipino Dance Troupe in Madison, WI. As a teen she was a competitive figure skater, and as part of her off-ice training at the Indiana/World Skating Academy she fell in love with ballet and jazz classes. She continued her dance training at Christine Rich and Art In Motion dance studios in Champaign, IL.

Jaimee was a 4-year member of the nationally-ranked University of Wisconsin-Madison Dance Team, placing in the Top 10 for 3 years at UDA College Dance Team Nationals featured on ESPN. Her favorite dance was their Prince mix that earned them 2nd in the nation in Division 1A Dance. She also danced with the team on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in Los Angeles, CA for the 2000 Rose Bowl.

When Jaimee moved to Chicago for graduate school, she danced professionally with the Adrenaline Rush Dancers. Her passion for hip hop grew when training at Lou Conte and Visceral dance studios in Chicago. For 6 years Jaimee was a dancer, choreographer, and co-director for Hip Hop ConnXion-Chicago, a dance company with a mission to inspire youth through dance. With this company she was able to choreograph, perform, teach, and attend conventions with master choreographers like Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo, Brian Friedman, Luther Brown, Marty Kudelka, Sonya Tayeh, Tovaris Wilson, and the Jabbawockeez. Her choreography in hip hop, pom, jazz, and lyrical has been featured by high school and college competitive dance teams as well as the performance company MaZi Dance Chicago.

Performance credits include The One Urban Dance Showcase, Dance Chicago, Carnival Choreographers Ball Chicago, Chicago Bulls halftime show, the Fame movie premiere, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Jaimee has her M.A. in Dance/Movement Therapy & Counseling. She works in private practice as a licensed clinical professional counselor and board-certified dance/movement therapist.
